MDP Presidential Primary contender, former President Mohamed Nasheed reveals that his running mate will be from Addu City, should he be able to secure MDP Presidential ticket in the upcoming election.

At a press conference held, Nasheed stated that, in addition to his running mate belonging to the Addu City, he will be a “youth” and energetic, to represent entire population of the Maldives.

President Nasheed said his aim of having a “youth” running mate is offering a bigger role, going forward.

In response to questions raised if he would acknowledge defeat in case if his opponent, President Solih manages to win the Primary, Nasheed underlined that the majority of the MDP supports him to be the party presidential candidate.

Nasheed asserted that he would be winning the upcoming presidential primary by no less than a 70 percent margin.

In a recent press conference, when asked if he would concede to his rival in case of a defeat, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih reiterated his commitment to back the MDP candidate, elected by party members.

However, Nasheed has so far kept maintaining his position, stating that he doesn’t see a scenario where MDP’s ticket would be won by his opponent.
