Two inmates were caught by Maldives Prison guards, attempting to flee Asseyri Jail in Kaafu Atoll Himmafushi.
In order to escape, inmates were apprehended while trying to flee by ascending the boundary wall surrounding the prison.
Prisons Commissioner Ahmed Mohamedfulhu in a tweet stated that precautionary measure are already under consideration to prevent further incidents. The commissioner also revealed with no furthe details, the incident is being investigated.
In the past there had been incidents of inmates unsuccessfully attempting to escape the prison compound.
