President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih departed on Sunday for Kaashidhoo Island in the Kaafu Atoll to attend activities held to mark National Farmers’ Day and World Food Day. The President declared October 15 as National Farmers’ Day in 2020. October 16 is celebrated across the globe as World Food Day.
On Kaashidhoo Island, the President will attend the official reception and special banquet held to mark the occasion. The reception will be held at the Kaafu Atoll Education Centre. The President will also visit an exhibition held at the education centre as part of the activities and meet with the farmers.
As part of the President’s visit to Kaashidhoo Island, he will also hold meetings with the members of the island council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC). He will also visit the healthcare centre on the island.
Before travelling to Kaashidhoo Island, the President will visit Sun Island Resort & Spa and watch the games of the ongoing FIVB Beach Pro Tour, Maldives Challenge 2022—the highest-ranked sporting event hosted in the Maldives. The President will also attend the closing ceremony of the tournament, held from October 13-17, 2022, and featuring world-class players from 28 countries.
The tournament is jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, The International Volleyball Federation and Volleyball Association of Maldives.
The President will conclude his visit to Kaashidhoo Island and return to Malé on Monday, October 17, 2022.
