Candidates from the ruling Maldivian Democratic Paty (MDP) has won todays two two by-election held M. Dhiggaru Council and Th. Gaadhiffushi Council.

Zulaiha Ahmed of MDP on Saturday won the seat for Th, Gaadhiffushi Council and  Abdhulla Arif of MDP won the seat for M. Dhiggaru Council.

In the by-election two candidates form opposition PPM contested – Hawwa Abdhul Haadhee for Gaadhiffushi Council and Abdhul Hannan Ahmed for M. Dhiggaru Council.  The following temporary results were announced.

M. Dhiggaru Council by-election

1. Abdhulla Arif (MDP), 375 votes
2. Abdul Hanna Ahmed (PPM), 325 votes

Th. Gaadhiffushi Council by election

1. Zulaikha Ahmed (MDP), 210 votes
2. Hawwa Abdul hadhy (PPM), 201 vote
3. MRM, 4 votes
